Rule of thumb (65 × thickness² ÷ V). Stainless steel: multiply by 1.5; aluminum: by 0.5. We recommend a 20% margin over the calculated value.
It depends on the maximum thickness, the length of the parts and the material. As a reference, a 100-ton, 3.2 m press brake bends mild steel up to 4–5 mm thick along its full length. Send us your drawings or parts and we'll recommend the tonnage, length, CNC control and tooling.
An NC machine controls the backgauge and depth with a simple controller; a CNC machine synchronizes the cylinders (Y1/Y2), compensates for bed deflection (crowning) and stores multi-bend programs, delivering greater accuracy and repeatability in production runs.
